On Monday – the victims of 9/11 and their families brought the first lawsuit against Saudi Arabia under the new JASTA bill. But the fact that it has taken this long is SHAMEFUL. But, what do you expect when your current President and his two predecessors have continually picked oil money over justice for those killed in the September 11th attacks?

We know from the investigations into the attacks that Saudi officials funneled money to al Qaeda through illegitimate charities and officials were even in the same hotel as hijackers the night before the attacks.

So, why have we fought so hard to protect Saudi Arabia? The simple answer is money… figures say that if you look at offshore accounts, that the Saudi government has up to $1 trillion in assets in our government.

We all know that George W. Bush had ties to the oil fortunes of Saudi Arabia and worked with the Saudis to help keep oil prices low to improve the economy.

President Obama accounted for $115 billion in weapons sales to Saudi Arabia.

And despite Trump’s initial reaction to the FBI’s information that the Saudi government worked with the terrorists, he is now making deals with the Saudi government – and did not include Saudi Arabia in his Muslim travel ban., while his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson refuses to acknowledge that Saudi Arabia is responsible for horrible human rights violations.

General Electric, Dow Chemical, Boeing, Chevron all have major interests in Saudi Arabia and worked hard against JASTA being passed, spending incredible amounts of money to lobby Congress. We even know that Saudi Arabia was lying to veterans to get them to lobby against the bill. False information about the scope of the bill and its consequences ran rampant.

Frankly, I’m glad to know that we are finally cutting through the oil money and allowing the families of 9/11 victims to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for the murder of nearly 3,000 people. It is shameful that it has taken 15 ½ years to get to this point. Our government has no problem bombing or oppressing middle-eastern countries for the slightest reason, but if you invest billions in our economy, you can literally get away with murder.
