How do you know that the healthcare plan being hurriedly assembled and voted on without knowing the full story is really, really good? When Republicans make protections within the bill itself exempting themselves from it entirely, allowing them to continue receiving adequate healthcare à la Obamacare.

Yes, the corrupt, devastating Obamacare replacement that will be voted on today in the House despite having no CBO score provides a convenient exemption for members of Congress and their aides. As it turns out, it’s much easier to sell a rotten deal to the American public, effectively signing the death certificate of thousands upon thousands, if you yourself never have to live through the system yourself.

Initial versions of the failed AHCA also included these same exemptions, but many Republicans promised that the provision would be removed from the final version of the bill.

The possibility of this bill passing through the house is very real, most shockingly due to the removal of the mandate requiring that insurance companies provide coverage to those with pre-existing conditions. With this major slash to American healthcare, the more conservative members of Congress agreed to vote “yes.”

Now, the bill will either narrowly pass or narrowly fail, all depending on the leanings of a handful of Republican representatives.

By passing this legislation, the Republican party is admitting that they do not have the American public’s best interest at heart. While they continue to enjoy comprehensive, dependable health coverage, Republicans in Congress would feed the rest of America to the wolves.

Those like Speaker Paul Ryan would likely be happiest to see the poor and disabled in America left to die for failing his Ayn Rand-ian vision of Utopia. For Republicans, healthcare and anything else is survival of the richest. Thanks to slippery provisions in the corrupt legislation, no matter how much the rest of us prepare to suffer, they’ll all be just fine.
