When Lyndon Johnson signed the civil rights Act into law, he made the comment that he just cost the Democrats the South for a generation. Little did he know that Democrats would still be struggling in the South more than 50 years later. So that raises the question about what move the Democrats make now – Do we abandon the South or do we continue to spend time and money on people who couldn’t care less about democratic policies, even though they depend on them more than the rest of the country.
