Despite over 97 percent of scientists agreeing that climate change is a real, man-made threat, the GOP is still arguing that it is all a hoax. The latest incident showing their ignorance comes in the form of a campaign ad by Louisiana State Representative, Lenar Whitney, who is currently seeking election to the U.S. House.
In the video, Whitney describes global warming as “the greatest deception in the history of mankind,” and states that “Earth has done nothing but gotten colder since [An Inconvenient Truth’s] release,” which shows that “God has a wonderful sense of irony.”
Scientific evidence, however, proves otherwise. The decade from 2000-2009 was the warmest on record, with 2009 ranking as the second hottest year since recordkeeping began.
The Louisiana Representative also claims that global warming is “a strategy designed to give more power to the executive branch, while increasing taxes in a progressive’s dream to regulate every aspect of American life.”
Whitney goes on to say that expanding America’s natural gas and oil industries would “cripple the economies of the Middle Eastern nations who spend much of their oil profits developing new ways to blow the U.S. off the face of the Earth.”
This video shows that the GOP is running out of ideas on how to get voters and is relying on false-facts and misinformation to target their audience.
