As the midterm elections loom closer, progressive favorite Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) will be hitting the campaign trail hard over the next week in what’s sure to be a barn burner of a campaign, reported Salon.
Warren will be campaigning with Sem. Mark Udall (D-CO), Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), and Rep. Bruce Braley (D-IA) over the next week with the ultimate of maintaining a Democratic-controlled Senate. Of these candidates, Franken is the only one who appears to have a clear chance of winning.
On the other hand, Udall and Braley are behind in the polls with Republican Joni Ernst edging a 0.8 point lead over Braley and Republican Cory Gardner leading Udall by 1.4 points. Salon also noted that Franken leads opponent Mike McFadden by 11.5 points. Unnervingly, the Republicans, collectively, have a slight edge in winning the Senate.
For the Dems who don’t buy into the Hillary Clinton brand of pro-Wall Street politics, Warren has emerged as the favorite campaign partner. The Clintons and Obama have become the face of New Democrats who go against the true liberal ideal and rub elbows with Wall Street and corporate America. Because these faux-liberals play the game so much like Republicans, it’s imperative to not help the anti-middle class agenda of the GOP and New Democrats.
The GOP is wanting to implement broken and thoughtless policies that will inevitably hurt the country and further smear our reputation on the international stage. Elizabeth Warren is the best chance possible for these candidates who are slightly behind in the polls to eek out a win.
The Repubs are on track to maintain the House of Representatives with, like in the Senate race, a slight edge. These midterms are going to be close, and the Democrats need to buckle down and push until the last vote has been counted.
