Despite a blatant call to wage a military coup against President Obama, the Republican Recorder of Deeds from Jefferson County, Missouri who made the comments said she meant “no ill will,” reported the Raw Story.
Last week, Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds Debbie Dunnegan took to Facebook to call Obama a “domestic enemy” and openly pondered on the constitutional rules regarding taking up arms against “domestic enemies.”
“I have a question for all my friend who have served or are currently serving in our military . . . having not put on a uniform nor taken any type military oath, there has to be something that I am just not aware of,” wrote Dunnegan. “But I cannot and do not understand why no action is being taken against our domestic enemy. I know he is supposedly the commander in chief, but the constitution gives you the authority.”
Realizing the ridiculousness of what she said, Dunnegan backpedaled on her statements when interviewed by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“Something innocent and simple got twisted into a disaster because it’s an election,” she said. “I meant no ill intent toward the president. I meant no ill will toward anybody.”
The elections Dunnegan speaks of are the November midterm elections where she will also be on the Jefferson County Ballot to maintain her current position. As far as the statements are concerned, Dunnegan isn’t fooling anybody. Here’s the cut and dry version: she called Obama a “domestic enemy,” and then asked about the rules concerning “taking action” against domestic enemies.
Sure, people have slip ups and lapses in judgement, but it seems that when conservatives do it they’re either being racist, morally insensitive, or outright calling for someone’s removal by force. Their gaffes are further proof that the extreme Right-wingers are violent, hate-driven creatures.
