Selma Confederates Want to ‘Protect, Defend and Preserve’ the White Race

At the same time as the 50th anniversary commemoration marches were taking place at the Edmund Pettus bridge in Selma, Alabama, another memorial was being revered in Selma: the southern confederacy.

A group at the Live Oak Cemetery gathered around the memorial of Nathan Bedford Forrest, widely believed to be the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.
