The Penn State chapter of the Kappa Delta Rho (KDR) fraternity has been suspended after local police found pictures of nude women, taken while they were sleeping or passed out, posted on two private Facebook accounts, WJAC News reported.
According to the search warrant, one of the pages, titled “Covert Business Transactions,” was deleted when it was discovered by one of the victims. Another page titled “2.0” was created in its place.
Police said the page, in addition to the pictures of the women, had photos of members selling drugs and hazing fraternity pledges.
The page had almost 150 members, including current students and alumni — all of whom were invited to join because the page was set to private.
During their investigation, State College Police said they searched several computers and the Facebook page, but everything had already been deleted. They were, however, able to get about 20 pictures as evidence when they first received the tip about the pages.
“We have some printed out images from that account,” said Lt. Keith Robb.
Police are now working with KDR’s national headquarters and the school’s Office of Student Conduct and Interfraternity Council (IFC), “not only to determine potential victims, potential subjects, but also to sanction the fraternity for their conduct,” Robb said.
The IFC released a statement which read, in part:
“In response to the discovery of the two Facebook pages allegedly hosted by Kappa Delta Rho, the chapter was immediately placed on full chapter suspension … Upon completion of all investigation into this matter, Kappa Delta Rho will be summoned by the IFC to undergo a conduct review session.”
Neither the Penn State chapter nor the national headquarters of KDR, whose motto is ironically, “Honor Above All Things,” has released a statement regarding the investigation.
