Earlier this week, former Port Authority executive David Wildstein pleaded guilty in the ‘Bridgegate’ case. He admitted that he, along with two other of Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) colleagues closed lanes of the George Washington Bridge to “punish” Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich for not supporting Christie in his re-election campaign.
Wildstein’s partners in the political retaliation, former Port Authority Deputy Executive Director William Baroni and Christie’s former Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Anne Kelly, were each indicted on nine counts of conspiracy, fraud, and other related charges.
Flashback to December 2013: Gov. Christie, when asked about ‘Bridgegate,’ joked about actually “working the cones” at the lane closures. He then asked if the person who asked was “really serious with that question.”
As the truth finally begins to come out, Christie’s involvement is surely to be proven. Wildstein, Baroni, and Kelly were all hired/appointed by Christie. If you follow the evidence, it’s likely the trail will lead right to the top.
