The mayoral election in Flint, Michigan is two parts tragic and one part unbelievable. The candidates are two felons, one of which is a convicted murderer who spent 20 years in prison, and a pig named Giggles. Attorney Michael Ewing is Giggles’ owner and campaign manager.
“Giggles was sitting next to me while I was reading reports about the candidates and I said to her, ‘You would make a better candidate than these people,’” said Ewing. “So, I did what any normal, rational person would do — I ran her for mayor.”
Considering who Giggles is running against, she seems the better candidate, sad to say. But aren’t our choices in most American elections like this anyway, between two felons and a pig?
