KPTV Fox of Oregon created a digital slideshow containing facts about the American gender pay gap. The slideshow shows the average gender pay gap for each of the 50 states and Washington D.C. Although Washington D.C. is doing better than the rest of the country regarding the gender pay gap, women still get paid nine percent less than men for doing similar work.
Louisiana is at the bottom. Women in Louisiana are paid 66 percent less than men. Compared to a man making $48,318 a year, women are paid only $31,865 for the same job, a difference of $16,453. That’s a big difference.
