The pope has Republicans terrified of his stance toward climate change. Well-known Republicans like Rick Santorum have expressed their party’s wish for the pope to keep his stance on climate change to himself and now Senator James “Snowball” Inhofe is joining the ranks.
According to the Guardian, Inhofe said:
“Everyone is going to ride the pope now. Isn’t that wonderful,” he said. “The pope ought to stay with his job, and we’ll stay with ours.”
A few moments later, Inhofe said: “I am not going to talk about the pope. Let him run his shop, and we’ll run ours.”
More and more it is seeming that if you are on the opposite side of an issue from the Republicans, you are on the right side of history.
Pope Francis seems undeterred by Republican attacks. Later this month, it is expected that Pope Francis will deliver an encyclical that “will convey to the world that protecting our environment is an urgent moral imperative and a sacred duty for all people of people and people of conscience.
Looks like Republicans such as Santorum and Inhofe don’t count themselves among that number.
