A New York police chief, Timothy Wright, has turned himself in, facing allegations that he beat his wife and she suffered injuries so severe that she lost teeth. Wright is the police chief for Carroll, New York.

According to reports, Christine Wright, Timothy’s wife, stated to police that her husband hit her “so quickly and often” that she was unsure whether she was being kicked or punched. After going to urgent care, it appears that someone at the healthcare facility felt inclined to call police and start an investigation, due to the nature of her injuries.

Timothy has been arrested and charged with third-degree assault. Mr. Wright is currently suspended pending the outcome of a court case and receiving his part-time pay of $27,000.

In an interview with local reporters, the police chief routinely avoided answering questions or supplying information that could have removed doubt as to his innocence.
