Harvard professor Lawrence Lessig recently announced that he will run for president, making him the sixth Democratic presidential candidate, reported Politicus USA.
“We have to recognize we have a government that does not work,” Lessig said. “This stalemate, partisan platform of American politics in Washington right now doesn’t work. And we have to find a way to elevate the debate to focus on the changes that would actually get us a government that could work again, that is not captured by the tiniest fraction of the 1 percent.”
Lessig has already raised $1 million in seed money from a Kickstarter campaign. His political platform will focus on campaign finance reform, increased voter access, and eliminating partisan gerrymandering, reported Politicus USA. However, Lessig isn’t interested in serving as president, he just wants to create some change. He would hand over the presidency to his VP pick.
His list for possible running mates is interesting: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Elizabeth Warren, and Jon Stewart.
