Right-wing Christian buffoon David Barton has been tapped to take over the Keep the Promise PAC, a super PAC of Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz. Right Wing Watch noted that Barton has built a career off of misleading, false information ranging anywhere from history to religion.

Barton, who’s based in Texas, recently delivered an anti-gay sermon in which he said God will never allow an AIDS vaccine because it’s the disease of homosexuals.

Barton cited Romans 1:27, which reads: “Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”

Barton continued his poor interpretation of the verse:

I don’t think they will ever find a vaccine for HIV/AIDS. I say that based on a particular Bible verse. The Bible says if you engage in homosexuality, your body will do things that penalize you. So if you can have a vaccine for AIDS, then you’re keeping your body from penalizing you.
