Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush spoke briefly about the 2nd Amendment and gun control laws to a South Carolina town hall on Thursday, hours after the Oregon shooting. Siding with pro-gun conservative politics, all he had to say about mass shootings is “stuff happens.” He must really not want to be president.
“Look, stuff happens,” said Bush. “There’s always a crisis and the impulse is always to do something. It’s not necessarily the right thing to do.”
His answer falls short because, in the last three years, there have countless, high-profile mass shootings. The people call for tougher gun laws, but the pro-gun lobby manipulates Congress from acting every time.
Shortly after Bush’s comments, President Barack Obama responded.
