Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), head of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, said that his Republican colleagues not part of the committee need to “shut up” about the Benghazi investigation.

“Unless you’re on the committee, you have no idea what we’ve done, why we’ve done it, and what new facts we have found,” said Gowdy on Face the Nation. “They don’t have any idea what the facts are.”

Gowdy responded to the controversy that flared after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) admitted that the House Select Committee on Benghazi turned into a means of harming Hillary Clinton’s political career. McCarthy is not part of the the committee. However, one former committee staffer claims to have gotten fired because he wouldn’t engage in a biased investigation against Clinton.

Gowdy claims there are new facts, but after two years and countless investigations, there has been no evidence implicating Clinton in any nefarious actions regarding Benghazi.
