Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping is a radical performance group that focuses on the evils of consumerism by performing cash register exorcisms, retail interventions and even crucifying a mickey mouse toy outside of a Disney retail store.
Reverend Billy and his crew are one part parody and two parts true activism as they have worked for 15 years for the causes they believe in. Among their accolades is a full length film, wide spanning media coverage, and an impressive arrest record for Reverend Billy who has a lifetime ban from Starbucks.
What started out as a rally against consumerism has morphed into so much more as Billy and his choir have recently become involved with the Black Lives Matter movement.
