Finally, justice is beginning to be served against a Trump adviser who assaulted a female reporter earlier this month.
On March 8, Breitbart Reporter Michelle Fields told the world that Trump campaign adviser Corey Lewandowski had assaulted her during a Trump event in Jupiter, Florida. Lewandowski and the Trump campaign denied the allegations, saying that Fields was a liar.
Individuals searched video from the event frantically, hoping to obtain visual proof of the violence in order to vindicate Fields who was fired from her position at Breitbart. Breitbart openly denied the allegations as well, publishing an article which they say proved that Fields was wrong about who attacked her.
Fields offered photos of her bruised arm as well as an audio transcript of a conversation between herself and another reporter seconds after the assault as proof. Nevertheless, Lewandowski continued to deny that he assaulted Fields, in fact, he said, he had never even met the woman.
During Trump’s Florida victory speech, he thanked Lewandowski by name in a public embrace of his adviser’s actions. Then the smear campaigns began. Trump supporters and cronies began to accuse Fields of lying, pointing to other supposed instances of her lies as evidence. Trump said during an interview that he thought “perhaps” Fields had made the whole thing up. “I think that’s what happened.”
Just this week, Trump campaign manager Dan Scavino tweeted out a smear video which accused Fields of being one of Ted Cruz’s alleged mistresses.
Fields filed a police report in Jupiter shortly after the event. It was this police report which led to the arrest of Lewandowski who was charged with misdemeanor assault. Along with the arrest was the release of security footage from the Trump-owned venue which proves, without a doubt, that Lewandowski grabbed Fields exactly as she claimed. Lewandowski reportedly turned himself in on Tuesday morning and will appear in court on May 4.
Lewandowski and the Trump campaign continue to allege that Corey is completely innocent, despite the obvious proof. Trump issued a statement of full support for Lewandowski:
Below is the security footage of the ballroom in which the assault took place. Fields, the victim of the assault, can be seen walking beside Trump. She is wearing a cream jacket. Lewandowski is behind Trump, wearing a suit and short-cropped hair.
