The Wisconsin primary on Tuesday proved to be a pivotal one for both parties as it served to slow the momentum of what seemed to be the inevitable outcome of the race. On the Democratic side, Senator Bernie Sanders ran away with the state, garnering nearly 57 percent of the vote to Clinton’s 43 percent.
It was vital for the continuation of the campaign that Sanders not just win Wisconsin, but win it big. This win is further proof that momentum is an important factor in the Democratic underdog’s race. Sanders has won the last six primary races, no doubt putting competitor Hillary Clinton on her toes.
Republican Ted Cruz also won the primary in Wisconsin, taking away a vital handful of delegates from Donald Trump who is struggling to reach the magic number of delegates necessary to avoid a convention.
