A man in Philadelphia was playing around with his gun when he accidentally discharged it, killing his four-year-old daughter. The man, Maurice Phillips, 30, was waving the gun around the room recklessly in the presence of seven children.

Seven children.

Captain James Clark of the Philadelphia police department said that the girl and her six siblings, ranging in age from 7 months to 13 years, were in the bedroom with Phillips.

“[Phillips was] carelessly and recklessly waving and pointing the gun around in the room,” said Clark. The gun then went off, striking the young child in the back of the head and killing her instantly.

“We don’t believe that he intended that to happen but because of his grossly negligent acts, this is ultimately what happened.”

As if this reckless and murderous act wasn’t enough, Phillips then punched his five-year-old daughter, rubbing the blood from his hand onto her shirt. When police arrived on the scene, they were led to believe that the young child had discharged the gun. It was only hours later that Phillips admitted that he had murdered his daughter and framed his other child.

This is the sort of thing that gun-obsessed Republicans consider to be necessary evils in their quest to arm every man, woman, and child.
