Republican strategist Bill Kristol has been pushing for an independent candidate in the 2016 race to take on Donald Trump and offer up a more respectable conservative choice.
Among those tapped have been former Governor and failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney who has been more than outspoken in this race against Trump.
Just a heads up over this holiday weekend: There will be an independent candidate–an impressive one, with a strong team and a real chance.

Other possibilities include Senator Ben Sasse or even Kristol himself. But if this mystery candidate expects to have any impact at all on the race, starting so late is not the best idea.
Surely we will all be waiting with baited breath to know just who this dark horse/White knight could be, but I predict it won’t really have much of an effect.
