Hydraulic fracturing, which is commonly called fracking, is becoming one of the fastest growing sectors of the dirty energy industry. And one of the largest problems with fracking is that the companies doing the drilling are operating with almost no oversight and no regulations. But as members of Congress attempt to correct that, energy companies are rushing to make sure that they continue to escape the grasp of regulators by funneling money into campaign coffers, and by enlisting the help of a very powerful ally — The US Chamber of Commerce. Mike Papantonio discussed all of this with Tyson Slocum, the director of Public Citizen’s energy program.
