In an event hosted by the Huffington Post, Several DNC hopefuls will meet on Wednesday evening to discuss their vision for the future of the Democratic party in the hopes of being made the chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Since Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned in shame in 2016, the party has been without an official chair, though interim chair Donna Brazile filled in until the conclusion of the election.

Now, it is up to the members of the party’s official fundraising and organizing structure to decide on a new leader which will reflect the direction of the party for the next four (or more) years.

If the party goes with a progressive leader, like Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison, it will be a positive sign that the Democrats have learned a thing or two from their loss to Donald Trump. If they continue to push for corporate Democrats to lead and carry the party, we can say hello to a two-term Trump.

It’s as simple as that.
