While most other Democrats are content to sit on the sidelines as Donald Trump single-handedly dismantles our Democracy, one congresswoman is standing up and making her voice of opposition heard.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California has declared that she is ready to fight the President every step of the way. Waters says that she’s not at all concerned with getting along like so many other Democrats. Instead, she is ready to march, obstruct, and speak as long and as loudly as she must.
Said Waters during an interview with The Root:
“My feet are firmly planted on the ground and dealing with the reality of things and what’s happening and what’s going on. It has not been difficult; I just know that we are now going to have a new president. I don’t care for him, I don’t trust him, and I know what I’ve got to do.”
So what is it that she must do?
She continues,
“We’re going to have to resist; we’re going to have to march and protest and rally and never let up,” she says. “We are going to have to demand that those elected officials who say that they are opposed to him show up and say it, and make sure that they understand that we are not playing, and know that we’re about the business of stopping Trump.”
It still waits to be seen if other Democrats are ready to stand alongside Waters, or if they want to continue their charade of “getting along.”
