Earthquakes By The Score: Fracking Causes Extreme Shifts Under Earth’s Surface

As a direct result of hydraulic fracking, the frequency of earthquakes is rapidly rising. Oklahoma was recently hit with a bout of seventy small earthquakes in a single week, and after a state report noted the connection between fracking and these “swarms,” some public officials have raised concerns for civic safety. Though the relationship between oil and gas extraction and earthquakes has long since been proven, the rate of the quakes in fracking hotbeds has risen dramatically over the past few years. Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Texas, and Arkansas have all experienced increased fracking-related earthquakes according to Bill Ellsworth, former...

Jeb’s Social Policies Will Lead to Starvation and Homelessness

GOP candidate Jeb Bush’s newly outline social policies propose huge cuts to social welfare programs, leaving a massive number of Americans in danger of losing their homes and going hungry. If elected, Bush plans to end food stamps, housing, and cash welfare programs and reroute the money toward individual states for “Right to Rise Grants.” These grants would include requirements for working and time availability limitations for able-bodied adults. But don’t worry, though he’d be cutting programs like SNAP and TANF that help thousands feed themselves and their families, Jeb’s found a solution to economic stability for struggling families: Marriage....

Insane Texas Governor Proposes a Whopping NINE Constitutional Amendments; None Will Pass

Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, has proposed a series of nine constitutional amendments that would allow states the power to ignore federal laws and overrule the Supreme Court. It’s not secession, but it’s a close second. The projected amendments would allow for a two-thirds majority vote to override federal regulations and Supreme Court decisions while banning Congress from “regulating activity that occurs wholly within one state,” and requiring seven Supreme Court votes to overturn a “democratically enacted law.” Naturally, the Republican’s call to action was motivated by personal opposition to recent federal action regarding same-sex marriage and immigration, but...

Put A Handgun On Your Back To School List: Trump Wants Guns in Schools

In yet another insult on common sense, GOP candidate Donald Trump has declared that in a measure to protect citizens from gun violence, he wants guns in schools. During a recent campaign rally in Vermont, Trump addressed gun-free zones on US military bases and in schools stating, “I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools – you have to – and on military bases on my first day. You know what a gun-free zone is to a sicko?  That’s bait.” Believing that the answer to curbing violence is further arming the general public in any and all environments,...

Kansas Lawmaker Posts Stupid Racist Meme on Facebook: Will They Ever Learn?

In an ill-fated attempt to take a digital dig at President Obama, Kansas lawmaker John Bradford stirred up controversy and revealed the true depths of his ignorant bigotry when he shared an offensive meme on his Facebook page. The image pictures a Latino man with a mustache and sombrero, overlaid with a poorly photoshopped image of Obama. The caption reads, “MEXICAN WORDS OF THE DAY: PIZZA CHIP & BELIEVING. THIS PIZZA CHIP WILL BELIEVING THE WHITE HOUSE SOON.” As if the republican representative’s choice to make a political statement through lowbrow humor on the internet wasn’t bad enough, the shameless...
