Anti-Government Red States Rely Most On Federal Aid

For all the complaining, ranting and whining about ‘big government’ we hear from leaders in red states, it’s hard to imagine that those states would be accepting any federal handouts. Many of those red states have refused to participate in President Obama’s Medicaid Expansion, allowing their people to go bankrupt or die from their inability to afford the bloated, profit-fueled payments demanded by a corrupt, greed-maddened, predatory private health care industry. So, please explain this: Why is it that those conservative, anti-government states are the ones receiving the most in federal assistance? It’s an issue that we’ve visited before here...

They’re Still At It: Repubs Send Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood and Repeal Obamacare

So much for deals. Despite concessions on the recent omnibus spending bill that would preserve funding for Planned Parenthood, the GOP-dominated Congress has sent a bill to President Obama’s desk that would defund the organization as well as repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Conservative media outlets are jumping for joy, quoting right-wing hacks like David Daleiden of the Center for Medical “Progress” (yes, the same organization behind the infamous “baby parts” videos): “Congress is listening to the will of the American people to hold Planned Parenthood accountable under the law for their barbaric abortion and baby parts business.”...

Bernie Sanders Not Worried About Trump Candidacy, Comments

Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders isn’t being shy about calling Donald Trump out on the numerous sexist, racist, misogynistic and downright idiotic statements he’s made over the past several months. He’s even bringing up stupid things Trump said years ago. Back in November of 2012, Trump authoritatively stated that “the concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” Bernie’s assessment of that statement: “What an insight…how brilliant can you be? The entire scientific community has concluded that climate change is real and causing major problems and Trump believes that it’s a...

Homeless Man Given Respectful Burial By Private School Students in Mass.

Students attending one of the nation’s oldest and most exclusive private preparatory schools received a stark lesson about the lives – and deaths – of those at the bottom of the economic ladder this week. The occasion was what a previous generation referred to as a “pauper’s burial.” The deceased was a 54-year-old homeless man who had drowned in a nearby river last summer. His body, unclaimed, had been sitting in a morgue for months. The Roxbury Latin School in Massachusetts predates the founding of the United States by over 130 years. Established in 1645, it is rated as...
