Ted Cruz Got Cut Off Mid-Sentence Onstage and It Was Hilarious

It’s safe to say that Senator Ted Cruz is one of the most interesting elected officials in the Senate – he loves quoting the “Princess Bride,” he once bought 100 cans of soup after his honeymoon, and he looks an awful lot like Kevin from The Office or Grandpa Munster (depending on your age). But on Thursday, Cruz wasn’t entertaining because of what he did but because of what was done to him. Cruz was addressing a crowd at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s “Road to Majority” conference when he was abruptly cut off by a booming announcer’s voice...

Trey Gowdy May Take Over as Chair of House Oversight Committee

With Congressman Jason Chaffetz on his way out, the Republican Steering Committee selected their new chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday: Rep. Trey Gowdy. Chaffetz is expected to serve his final day in Congress on June 30 before heading off to his TV debut on Fox News, and will need a Republican just as annoying to replace him. By that account, Gowdy is the perfect choice. Gowdy, a South Carolina Congressman, is most famous for his shark-like interrogation of Hillary Clinton during the Benghazi hearings. Liberals will remember him for endlessly dogging the former Secretary...

During Comey Testimony, House Votes to Repeal Majority of Dodd Frank

While the nation was understandably glued to the much awaited James Comey testimony on Trump’s misconduct, a major move to protect Big Banks at the expense of consumers was taking place in the House. Taking full advantage of Comey cover, House Republicans voted on Thursday to pass the Financial Choice Act, an act which partially repeals Dodd-Frank and eliminates a great deal of banking rules established in the wake of the 2008 crash. The bill passed almost entirely along party lines, 233 to 186. No Democrats supported the bill and one Republican, Walter Jones, voted no. The bill targets...

A Fiery Claire McCaskill Slams Republican Healthcare Dishonesty

On Thursday, Senator Claire McCaskill outright lost her patience on the Republican party for their continued secrecy and lack of transparency around the latest healthcare bill. Addressing Republican leadership as a whole during a hearing of the Senate Finance Committee, McCaskill chastised the party for their hypocrisy surrounding their healthcare bill and their continued refusal to even bring the bill into the light of day. The Senator did not hesitate to let the Republican Senate know exactly how disgusted she was with the lack of information and cooperation between the Republican party and the Democratic party. “Will there be...

Trump’s Attorney Accuses Comey of Perjury; Says Testimony Was Another Leak

On Thursday afternoon, despite remaining eerily quiet on Twitter, the President of the United States formally responded to earlier testimony from fired FBI Director James Comey by accusing Comey of perjury. In a letter issued by Trump’s personal lawyer Marc Kasowitz, Trump maintains that much of what Comey testified is false, and that much of what he shared publicly about his meetings with Trump is a violation of confidentiality. Simply, Trump and his counsel say that Comey is both a liar and a leaker, and should be treated as such. The letter issued by Trump’s attorney contained several misspellings and...
