Journalist Faces Up to 75 Years in Prison For Covering D.C. Inauguration Riot

A freelance journalist is behind bars today after being indicted by a federal grand jury on riot charges related to protests in Washington D.C. the day before President Trump’s inauguration. Aaron Cantú was one of 230 people arrested on that fateful day in response to what police called a “riot” in the nation’s capitol. Unlike many of his fellow prisoners, though, Cantú says he was present as a journalist and therefore entitled to protections. When that effort failed, he and his Republican buddies...

While this may seem like a non-issue in a sea of major issues, the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University argues that the President’s decision to block users is a major violation of the First Amendment....

Big Tobacco Seeks to Monopolize The Marijuana Industry

Now that the production and sale of cannabis is becoming more and more common nationwide, some of tobaccos biggest players are trying to get their piece of the pie.  Of course, with the greed of big tobacco, it seems they are seeking the whole pie, rather than just a piece. At least that how it appears in Massachusetts where tobacco wholesalers are hoping to convince the state to regulate marijuana much the same way, benefiting their industry. Currently in the state, wholesalers are accountable for the tracking, delivery, and taxing of all tobacco products. This means that for each...
