Texas Teachers Give “Most Likely to Become a Terrorist” Award to Student In Wake of Manchester Bombing

It may seem like a bad headline from satire site The Onion, but it is 100% true. Earlier this week, a group of teachers in Texas gave a “most likely to become a terrorist” award to a Hispanic student, an alleged “joke” that went much too far. Alabama Goes to Great Lengths to Protect Confederate Monuments

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a bill into law on Wednesday which extends protections over confederate monuments in response to a recent uptick in removal of the monuments in other states. The law now prohibits local governments in the state from removing monuments that have been in place for 40 or more years, a ban which is intended to protect confederate monuments, the only ones currently being scrutinized. U.S. Appeals Court 4th Circuit Maintains Block on Trump Travel Ban

On Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Appeals Court’s 4th Circuit upheld the block on President Trump’s executive order travel ban, meaning that the controversial order is now headed to the Supreme Court for a final decision. The 4th Circuit’s decision upholds previous rulings by lower courts, and indicates that the case will now be headed to the Supreme Court if the court elects to take the case.
